About the Role

Grey Wave Recruitment is seeking an experienced Area Business Manager for a leading provider of laboratory equipment, chemicals, consumables and instrumentation across the life sciences, research and industrial sectors. This is a field-based position focused on developing and maintaining strong customer relationships while driving sales growth and ensuring high service standards across the assigned region.

The role will involve managing a diverse customer base including research facilities, manufacturing labs, and quality control departments. You will be responsible for achieving sales targets, identifying new business opportunities, and collaborating with technical and support teams to deliver solutions that align with customer needs.

Key Responsibilities

  • Manage and grow business across the Leinster region

  • Develop strong and lasting customer relationships built on trust and service excellence

  • Achieve and exceed sales and profitability targets within your assigned area

  • Identify new opportunities within existing accounts through up-selling and cross-selling

  • Expand the customer base by engaging new laboratories and industrial clients

  • Collaborate with internal sales specialists and customer service teams to ensure seamless client support

  • Deliver account management excellence through structured planning and regular client interaction

  • Manage tender processes and support value-added service development

  • Gather market intelligence on competitor products and industry trends

  • Prepare and maintain accurate account plans and customer classifications

  • Attend internal meetings, training sessions and occasional weekend events as required

Candidate Profile

  • Degree in a scientific discipline or equivalent professional experience

  • Minimum of five years’ sales or account management experience within the laboratory, chemical or scientific equipment sector

  • Strong commercial awareness and entrepreneurial mindset

  • Proven ability to build and manage customer relationships across multiple levels

  • Excellent communication, negotiation and presentation skills

  • Highly organised, proactive and capable of managing multiple priorities

  • Comfortable working independently while collaborating effectively with colleagues

  • Proficient in Microsoft Office and CRM systems

  • Willing to travel independently across the region with occasional overnight stays

  • Full clean driving licence and eligibility to work in Ireland
