About the Role

​

Grey Wave Recruitment is seeking a skilled and motivated Field Service Engineer for a leading provider of calibration, servicing and technical support to the scientific and healthcare sectors. This role offers an excellent opportunity for a technically minded professional who enjoys hands-on work, problem-solving and maintaining high standards of service quality.

The Field Service Engineer will perform scheduled calibration, maintenance and repair activities on laboratory and process equipment across multiple client sites. The successful candidate will also support workshop-based repairs and contribute to continuous improvement initiatives within a quality-focused environment.

Key Responsibilities

​

• Carry out scheduled calibration, maintenance, and repair work on laboratory equipment including autoclaves, centrifuges, balances, microscopes, ovens, fridges, freezers and similar instruments

• Support workshop-based repairs and equipment testing in line with manufacturer procedures and quality standards

• Complete and maintain all service documentation including calibration certificates, IQ/OQ/PQ forms and maintenance reports

• Provide technical support to customers, resolving queries efficiently and professionally

• Collaborate with internal teams including sales, logistics and purchasing to ensure smooth service delivery

• Participate in internal and external training to continuously develop technical expertise

• Maintain a clean, organised workspace and ensure tools, test instruments and spare parts are properly maintained and traceable

• Contribute to the monitoring and improvement of performance metrics such as turnaround time and service quality

• Build and maintain strong customer relationships, ensuring satisfaction and long-term partnership

• Adhere to all relevant Quality Management System, Environmental and Health & Safety standards

Candidate Profile

​

• Degree or qualification in Electrical, Electronic, Instrumentation or Calibration discipline (time-served or graduate equivalent)

• Minimum 1 - 2 years’ experience in a field service, instrumentation or calibration role

• Knowledge of calibration methods for parameters such as temperature, pressure, humidity or analytical systems desirable

• Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving ability with a conscientious, detail-oriented approach

• Excellent written and verbal communication skills

• Organised, self-motivated and capable of managing work schedules independently

• Strong IT proficiency with familiarity in calibration or laboratory management software

• Flexible to travel as required

• Full clean driving licence essential

• Experience working in an ISO/IEC 17025-accredited environment advantageous but not required
